EPOS - Automatic Knife Positioning
EPOS enables fully automatic and precise positioning of top and bottom knives in shear cut slitting units. Cutting positions can either be transferred directly from the host control system, loaded from recipes, or calculated automatically based on the number of strips and their width. Manual entry is also available as an alternative.
The system automatically determines the optimum knife positions, takes blocked cutting grooves into account, and selectively optimises the use of the cutting grooves for even wear and maximum service life. All target positions are clearly displayed graphically, and where configurations cannot be realised, EPOS informs the operator through clear warning messages.
Additional diagnostic and offset functions ensure high process reliability, fast error analysis, and compensation for mechanical tolerances, all of which contribute to an efficient, safe, and reproducible cutting process.
